Two more days till archery starts. Opening day will be cooler than I can remember for many years. <br /><br />My scent lok clothes are the lightweight stuff because of the usually warm weather we have this time of year. Guess I'll have to layer up a little for saturday. <br /><br />Good luck in your patch of woods Aspeck, neumanns,and others that hunt archery. <br /><br />The only thing better than a fall archery hunt is spring when those Toms are gobbling.

There is an upside to cool weather, You can age the meat. If it is cool enoufgh to do so I would recomend it. Good luck Saturday.<br /><br />Nimrod? now you got me curious, is it something I should look up here or elswhere?

Yea, Saturday is the start, I have a 6 point and 2 eight points bedding in a 40 acre wood plot, and I will be stripping forms off the walls of my basement! Had to pay the experts a bonus to get them there so I could keep on schedule! Man, I am going early to try and catch on of 'em sneaking past the foundation to the wood plot! Maybe the spotlight will help since we are starting at 6!

My favorite weapon for deer is my F150. <br /><br />Good luck flahthead, Aspeck, neumanns, and others.<br /><br />Our season started 10/1, but I won't be able to go til Saturday. Still got to winterize the boat, and finish up my "honey-do" list.<br /><br />Had a frost this morning, so I hear ya flahthead. Can't remember a frost around here this early.<br /><br />Aspeck,...... two eight pointers? Good luck guys, I unfortunately have class on saturdays untill Nov 1. Looking forward to small game season though. <br /><br />Flahthead, have they cleaned up Nockamixon, Made some hedge rows and such. Last year the dog put up 3 birds and never got a shot off because of how thick it was. We where (Pop & I) probably going to go to Beltsville or Trexler because of that.

Super Carp, just look at the map of PA, find the big lake in the middle of it (actually just south of middle) and head there. That is home.

jgregory,,, Wow I could not believe when you mentioned Nockamixon. I fish the lake there a lot. As far as the hunting goes I don't know much about it as I don't hunt there. I can see how thick things are in the woods when I am out in my boat. I hunt many farms around Nockamixon.

hey flathead, aint you near the jersey border?<br /><br />you, jgregory and me aughta go opening day or whenever in the spring, have our own flotilla out on one of the big lakes up thar, round valley or hoptacong (or a smaller one that ya know is better, I dont care where!)

Here in OK in opened oct1. have already seen plenty of deer. this year i have put my Mathews Q2 bow down for the first time in 4 years. i have finally gotten up the nerve to take out my recurve. I think that i am good enuff to kill any thing out to about 17-20 yards. I have had lots of does and fawns within that range but, the three bucks(2 four pointers and 1 six pointer) were out of range. about 25-30 yards. was wanting to try that range but on the target range i am only hitting about 50-60% from that distance, dont want to get abad shot on one. so i let them walk. hopefully will get a shot in the morning.<br /><br />Will have to take the Mathews out next week if i dont get any thing with the recurve. Just cooked the last roast and tenderloin of deer last week. had to ration out the meat all year to have it last till the season opened. got a chest freezer this year so i plan on filling it with six deer. this whould be enuff to last all year, with us eating some sort of deer meat once a week.<br /><br />I use this deer meat in everything i cook. Last year i finally got a vacuum sealer to go along with the meat grinder and slicer. I do all the processing myself.<br />stew<br />chili<br />steaks<br />roasts<br />burgers<br />box dinners (hamburger helper)<br />and wifes favorite jerky

OK guys....got a question.....<br /><br />Usually while talking to some hunting guys, you always get this one that says, and I quote, "Yea, just sittin' in the tree stand and outta nowhars comes this 12 pointer runnin like thar ain't no tommorra, head tucked in runnin through brush I cain't get thru with a brush hog."<br /><br />How do they know it's a 12 point?<br /><br />Me and my Pop have done our share of deer hunting and I can tell ya', when a deer is runnin' through the brush, yer doin good to tell it's sex.<br /><br />Maybe I jist ain't hunted enough?

dang OBJ, u apparently dinna read ur In-DeerHuntin magazine thoroughly - all deer runnin thru heavy thickets are 12pt - at least until they're actually layin on the tailgate an everyone can countem

OBJ That is the same guy that tells ya that bass that came off at the boat must have been at least a 5 pounder. <br /><br />Today I got as far as my truck when it started to rain buckets. I just turned around and went back in the house I have a whole month to hunt and did not feel like getting soaked first time out.<br /> <br /> Ray I am near the Jersey line I can be at the Delaware river in about 25 minutes.

Lets do It Flahthead & Ray But let me get the floor back into my Boat first. We could all fish the Delaware this way we don't need to worry about buying licenses for 2 different State's, Or arrainge a camping get together around Nockamixon or Promised Land SP and fish Wallenpualpak, or The Delaware Water Gap @ Worthington SP. <br /><br />Flahthead I buy PA licenses because of all the land available so you may see on Nockamixon after I get my Kicker put on.

Will do Flaht, You Catch and release right, I heard you really do not want to eat those fish.<br /><br />Also funny story for you. Dad and I used to go duck hunting over there. Most of the duck being those diving Iders. Well here we come canoeing around the shoreline and all the sudden I see this movement next to the shore and it looked like a duck diving, so I blast it!!<br /><br />We paddle up to it, was the biggest dam carp I have ever seen. Took it home put it in the freezer for next years Crab bait. <br /><br />I look up in the game laws. No license required for fishing with a Shotgun!
