just found a thread that recomends coming off a fuel filter with a dual outlet - to two seperate lines each with its own bulb. Is that the way to go? Would like to buy the filter from I boats (here). Which of there two choices will work, Cant tell from the listing>

That is exactly how I had mine rigged. Both OB's were using the same mix 50:1 It is mandatory that both your motors use same gas/oil mix or pure gas (4 cycle)

If the filter isn't necessary/needed, you can plumb one line with primer bulb from the tank to a simple Y or T splitter, then plumb a line with primer bulb to each motor. I run two late-50s OMC 35's that way on my boat, should work the same with a main and kicker motor on the same tank.

The standard practice in the marine industry is to use separate pickups in the tank and completely independent fuel systems for each motor to prevent them from running lean and possibly detonate the pistons.

If one engine is shut off, it can allow air to be "sucked" into the system and affect the operating engine. Primer bulbs do not have completely sealing check valves in them and they don't normally operate in a horizontal position.

Ask ANY marine engine manufacturer - inboard or outboard - if they recommend splitting the fuel system between 2 or motor motors !

My 2 motors are right next to each other, and I never run both at the same time. All I do is move the hose from one motor to the other. Simplifies the plumbing. When I ran 2 motors with different plug types, I merely converted the kicker motor to use the same male fitting as the main.

these are on a pontoon and hard to get to.Think I will take the path of the least potential proplems and go with two tanks. Thanks all ,you guys are great.

That was exactly my setup ... never had any problem. did run one motor at the time.
