Two Small Holes with foamy Oil

Hey,<br />I just replaced my impller on my 14 SPL 1987 model.<br />I used Permatex on both gaskets. And I put some Permex around the lower unit,where the lower unit fits to the motor.<br />On my second fishing trip,at the boat ramp.<br />I had white foamy oil comming out the two small holes on the bottom right side of the motor.<br /> What are these hole for,and do I need to take the lower unit back off and replace the permatex on the lower unit with something else?<br />I did check the gear lube oil,and the oil ran out of the bottom drain hole brown,not white foamy,like the top holes,the day before.<br /> Thanks<br />Thanks

Your lower unit lube sounds normal. If the fluid had appeared to be milky, that would indicate water intrusion. Bad seals or leaking drain and vent screw washers are a common cause for water in the lower unit. The foamy oil deposits can be a combination of unburned oil and exhaust, which is normal. If you do a lot of slow trolling, you'll most likely see more of the oily foam draining from the midsection drain vents.

Hey<br />I did do a lot of trolling,then I pulled the gas line and ran the gas out of the carb,running slow.<br />I replaced the two small O rings the on the lower unit oil screws.<br />And I drain all the gear lube from the lower unit.<br />The oil looked just fine,good and brown.<br />I had use the cheep Wal Mart gear lube after I changed the impeller.<br />Could the cheeper Wal Mart gear lube have something to do with the white foam also?<br />This is the first time that, I have used the off brand stuff in the lower unit.<br />Now I have the Evinrude gear lube in the lower unit.<br />Is the Evinrude gear lube alot better than the Wal Mart lube?
