Two stroke gas

I have a two stroke main engine and a 4 stroke kicker. Just wondering if the two stroke engine breaks down and all I have in the boat is two stroke mixed gas. Is is safe to run two stroke gas through a 5hp 2000' Mercury 4 stroke? I've done it once and had no problems but what could happen?

there should be no problem...i recently got a boat that had pre-mixed gas in the tank for at least a year...first i ran it in my 4 stroke honda mower with no problem...then my toyota pick-up!! did'nt even smoke..some may argue it will clog up the valves and such but i have not had any problems.

i wouldn't make a habit of doing it, but it should be ok.all its going to do is foul plugs a little faster . my vehicle is the best way to get rid of old mixed gas
