I have two different types of batteries, the house are gel and the engine are wet. Is there any way I can charge them both off the motors? Right now if I have to run my radar I have to run the generator to keep the house batteries up because all my electronics are run off the house. Any help would be great.

Re: Two types of batteries

You would have to run your motor at wot for quite a while to charge back your battery let alone several if them. It prolly wouldn't be practical.

Also what kind of motor? How big of an alternator is in it? We really need some more information here.

Twin TMAD 70's Volvos Alternator I don't know what size but will look next time I am at the boat. A friend said something about a battery combiner but I think I am going to be screwed because of the diffrent voltage requirements for the batteries.
