Type c oil vs trans/hydraulic tractor oil

Has anybody ever run or thought about running trans/hydraulic tractor oil in an electric shift outboard? Should be good as a hydraulic shifting fluid and a good gear oil yes no?

Not a farmer, so I have no idea what tractor oil is, or it's viscosity. But if you just can't stand it or must substitute, use Dexron ATF.

"Hydraulic" oils come in variety of formulations and additive packages. Using the wrong one could have major implications...

I wouldn't take the risk unless I knew for sure the formulations where the same.
