What kind of boat? I have use good quality 3/4 in ply in the past as well as 2x4 or cut my own stringers out of 2x6 and sealed everything before installing.

Might want to post this in the restoration section.

great thing about the best DIY restoration forum on the planet

the answers to 95% of the questions you could have are in the stickies

start reading the links in the restoration forum. https://forums.iboats.com/forum/boa...r/295740-how-to-s-and-other-great-information

specifically link 14 and 18

any exterior grade premium plywood would be fine.

BTW, post pics of your project. most likely you didnt grind enough for the new resin and glass (most do not)

Marine plywood IS the best but...If you use a good quality ext. grade plywood, with Polyester Laminating Resin, CSM, and Biaxial Fabric. and then care and maintain the boat in a responsible manner, She'll last for multiple decades. Factory boats don't have the best quality of laminations but following the advice here on the forum Your's will be Better than Factory. I use plywood for everything, Stringers, Transoms, Motor Mounts Side panels, Seat bases, EVERYTHING.

Exterior grade plywood. polyester resin is what they used originally. Unwaxed. US Composites in florida is the best place to get this stuff.

when you estimate a project, take the cost and multiply by 3 and the time and multiply by 4 and you then get closer to reality

When using plywood for stringers you can achieve any length by using 1/2" ply and laminating the pieces together using a 4ft overlap. This drawing shows what I mean...

Home depot wood available...AcX, BCX...."A" meaning less voids in fabrication. Never treated lumber.

I have tried to upload photos no luck. I have read you don't let the stringers touch the hull. Is this true?
I found the a/c plywood at 84 lumber. they suggested I use glue for flooring. Should I? if not what then?

You can bed them in thickened resin (aka 'peanut butter') or a construction adhesive like PL Premium. Peanut butter has the advantage of allowing you to work more quickly; as soon as the peanut butter has cured (30 minutes?) you can start tabbing the stringers in with fiberglass. If you use a construction adhesive, you need to wait at least 72 hours (maybe more) to allow the adhesive to cure and give any gasses it needs to. If you try tabbing over construction adhesive too soon, you'll get bubbles in your fiberglass and you'll have to grind them out and try again.

If you're asking what glue to laminate them together to make em long enuf then Titebond III is the best glue to use.
