I was just curious what the rpms should be at idle on 2001 125 hp merc?

I found on the powerhead it says idle in gear at 625.

I took the boat out the other day and in gear the motor idles around 800 rpms. Is that to high? At neutral it idles around 1100 rpms. When you put in forward gear and try putting back neutral you have to use a little muscle to get it into neutral. I am running 91 octane in it does that me a difference?

Yes, 800 is too high. No, 91 octane doesn't make a difference...

HERE is the manual for your engine.... Set the idle as the book shows..

I didn't think 91 octane made a difference. Can I just turn Idle timing screw or do I have to turn all the idle screws on the carbs separate?
