I'm installing a new u-joint bellow on a Alpha Gen2. The u-joint bellow appears to be installed correctly. It is in the groove on the bellhousing (looks like only one way it can install correctly) . The ring installed with ease. Too easy. I pressed it in with my hand with no issues. I can take the ring back out with ease as well. Is this normal and siting correctly. I see there are tools you can purchase and I've read people having issues and problems installing the ring. Did I do this right? Just seems too easy.....

Hmmm. That does seem too easy. Usually has to be tapped in, hence the tool needed for it. Does it have any resistance when you try to take it out?

The bellows itself has to be pushed onwards towards the gimbal bearing so it seals around a lip. Did you make sure to do that? The bellows itself has to be in far enough so the ring can fit in to hold it in place.

When I did mine I had to use a tool to tap it in. It Definitely had some resistance when I did mine.

I believe the gimble housing side is correct. On the bellhousing , the raised "gooved" on the bellow is sitting in the groove on the bellhousing. It appears the ring is in as far as it can go.

You should be good to go then....as long as that ring is in as far as it will go it should serve it’s purpose. Sorry I can’t give you a more definitive answer but as long as it is retaining the bellows you are good!

I always just finger push the ring in. Once you get the bellows into the groove it is a light fit. Then glue the square rubber ring in behind it and the drive will hold everything in place.
