Do you need to but adhesive on the bellhousing side of the bellows? Mine is a Alpha 1 Gen 2 with the compression fitting on the bellhousing side. Wasn't sure if I need adhesive there or will the pressure of the ring keep it water tight?

Thanks,

E

Re: U joint bellows adhesive?

I would suggest you do, and here is why.
While it's not NECESSARY to glue it in, it is a good idea. As you start to put the drive on the ujoints flex and can knock the seal out of place when you can't really see what is going on. When it's glued in, it doesn't move so easy. Some experienced tech use nothing, and some use grease. I use bellows adhesive because it's cheaper than to replace ujoints, gimbal bearing, yokes and seals for my customers, because I bumped it accedentally.
But Chris did answer your question correctly, you do NOT NEED to

Don's referring to the black seal that goes into the bellhousing and seals between the bellows locking ring (compression fitting) and the front of the driveshaft housing. I believe your question was about the bellows themselves. Please clarify....

As for the black seal, I completely agree with Don, and for the same reason.

Chris.......
