My u joint is shot on my 302 model 888 is there another way to align the bearing to motor without the alignment tool

I was told you can use the yoke before you assemble the new u joint is that true or false

You can get an alignment tool all day long on Ebay for $50 or so

I got mine on flea-bay $24.00 shipped to my door in 4 days. Got the specs from Mercruiser manual and checked all dimensions before using and it was on the money. Made in the USA in NY state.

Guess I shoulda mentioned that. 27.99 list price. Cant get away from the shipping cost on that little weighty item. Sometimes get free shipping on Amazon, but for this third party stuff, had to cough it up. Still a good bargain comparatively (I guess it is psychological...27.99 and shipping, versus 47.99 out of your pocket.). Have to talk to my admin asst about accuracy of info!!
BTW...the ones I've seen on ebay all had similar shipping costs... I still think the Amazon version is best bet for the $$.
