U shaped water hose on engine

Hello,I got a 3.0 merc 1989 I was doing some maintence on my boat and I happened to squeeze the u shaped water hose on the engine I will leave a picture attached and I realized that some part on lower part is really hard like you can’t squeeze it like there is something in there? Is this normal or should I take it off and see if there is anything in there I tried to take them of but they where stuck on where they go if I pulled and more they might have ripped off
What do you think?

Ayuh,..... Get yerself a hose pick to slip in between the hose, 'n housin' to free the hose,.....

The bottom end should be pulled, 'n drained for winterization,.....

'n bein' on the suction side of the pump, sometimes there's a coil spring inside it, so it don't collapse,....

If you can get a hose pick or screw driver under the hose down low and leave if there until the water stops dripping

Yes there is normally a coiled wire inside the hose.
