has anyone tried the new ubuntu version 11.04? It is the most drastic change I have ever seen made to ubuntu. Oh well, another learning curve hope I learn to love it!

Re: Ubuntu 11.04

No, but I will have to check it out. Right now we do not have a running spare computer so I just live our vista laptop alone. Maybe I'll try to get ubuntu going on the spare computer in the basement again. that computer currupts data and I'm not sure if it's the memory, hard drive, or video card that's the problem (or cpu or motherboard, not worth the effort to fix a 1 GHz machine).

Haven't seen the update but now you're making me want to check it out. I installed Ubuntu on my little netbook after I had a drive crash and lost windows. It works about 50% faster than it ever did with windoze!

Haven't checked it out to many sudo's for me .....I keep a live cd copy of Knoppix around for recovery purposes...as long as you have 2 media drives or a thumb drive

New to Ubuntu. Cutting my teeth on 11.04 server. A little lost in the permissions maze for Samba.

What are the big changes yer talking about?

Missed it, I'm working on 10.04 supported version.

Re: Ubuntu 11.04

After taking time to go through the tutorial I really like it so far. It is much faster than Vista ( I have a dual boot system) and has a clean look. The best part is the price!

That's actually a big deal to me. Every time I have ever done an ubuntu install on my basement computer with the wireless card I have had to lug the system up the stairs and plug in the wired network card so I could do the updates required to make the wireless card work. Pain in the @$$.
