Ugly Mercs

I've really grown to love the look of the mercs - and I apologize if I offend anyone who has one of these - but what on earth posessed mercury to produce something as hideous as this:

Ugly? Nasty, maybe, but not ugly! That motor is bad posterior!!! All business & snearing, snarling, screaming power!

Agreed. Not casting any aspersions on its performance. It's just hard to see how they went from the beautiful styling of the early years, to this.

If I was close by I'd buy it. You can still find 140 SST blocks. Trying to figure out what you don't like about it.

The older Mercs look like a Wurlitzer juke box. All chrome piping & art deco. This looks like an outboard.

Ok, rough crowd. All I can say is that I like when form meets function. What I don't like about it is that is looks like the outboard equivilant of an '82 Cordoba. But that's just me and there is no accounting for taste. On the other hand, I guess it could look like this beast.

Looks more like a 1984 or newer midsection with a one piece cowl, most of the SST motors I v seen have remote trim pump and thats a stock lower unit with what looks like a Bobs lower water pick up. I would be very wary of this motor. Below is a BAAD motor I would like to get rid of....

While they are putting around all slow like . A 140 SST will blow the old 1500 Tower out of the water. Who gives a damn what it looks like.

I wouldnt hesitate to put one of them on my boat. When youre going that fast folks arent going to notice the looks of the power plant.....
