Uh oh...my window is skewed now

Took it out on the Chesapeake last weekend. The boat got hammered really bad, and now my flip open window (open bow) doesn't line up with the two side wrap windows. It's like the boat expanded axially about an inch! I tried to loosen the screws to 'push' the side wraps closer, but didn't work.

The only thing I can think to do at this point is re-drill holes in the aluminum window frames and reposition them closer together...

chris - Don't sound good, what type of boat is it, I think you need to find out WHY! first before moving things around you may have a problem brewing up?

1994 Caravelle open bow, 19'. 5.0 Volvo SX, carbed. It's somewhat similar to a Sea Ray. I noticed lately there's some bubbling of the gelcoat underneath, but I don't think that's a result of what happened on the bay.

Chris - I would tend to agree that the bubbling has nothing to do with the problem.

From what you describe the hull itself either warped or cracked (probably where you can't see it). With a bow rider there is little to keep the sides from flexing and if hammered enough - - -

If this be the case I would enjoy the boat in relatively flat calm water and close to shore at that. In no way would I take it out again in the water you describe.

I hope I'm wrong as it is hard to give any kind of advice based on a couple of sentences written in a forum.

Chris,

The bubbles you describe are blisters. They have nothing to do with the thrashing the boat withstood. They are usually caused by sitting in the water when not in use.

Check the windshield mounts where they attach to the gunwales. They could have moved outwards and you might not notice it.
