If the pics don't work, let me know.
Got my U-Joints out, and I'm pretty sure looking at them they were toast, and the yokes don't look too happy either (See pics). I have a replacement yoke assembly, so not too big of a deal.
Looking into the bellows, there seems to be a bunch of rust flakes from the assembly. Without replacing or removing the bellows, what's the best way to clean it all out? It's like a sludge, and I've tried with my fingers and with paper towel, but is there a chemical (brake parts cleaner or ?) that I can use that will clean it out without causing an issue with the bellows? Over the winter I will replace the gimbal bearing and all bellows, but they look fine, and I don't have a leak that I'm aware of in any of them. I pulled the boat specifically to replace the u-joint assembly, and I want to get back on the water asap. I know I'm cutting corners, but I feel comfortable with the corners I'm cutting at this point.
Also, what kind of grease to I want to put on the shafts before putting them all back together? And do you grease up the upper unit housing that goes into the transom mount before putting it in? I had a heck of a time getting the upper off, and want to make it easier for next time.
And last (for now) but not least; during this nightmare of removing my lower and upper, I broke some pieces of the housings.
(see pics) Can these be JB Welded back on, or should I get a welder to do it for me?

Broken pieces on lower unit - where trim tab anode attaches:
