Ujoints clunking?

I got the new u joints in. I listened with my stethoscope in four corners of trim (up & right, up& left, etc.) With nothing but a whirring noise. I gave it a little throttle and noticed a slight ticking develop in all positions that did not change with position. It was not at all like the clunking from before but definitely different than sitting at idle. I assume this is not a great thing to hear.

Side note, this is what my old u joints looked like. Are these signs of wear that would point to them having made the clunking from before?

To clarify, the drive should never be run with drive full trim up, as in trailer position

Correct. Up to trim limiter switch. I have not adjusted that, but it is a ways down from trailer position
