Don't suppose any of you guys in Oz happen to know if UK regulators are compatible with Australian bottles do you? A friend is moving out to Oz soon and wants to know if he can take his gear (minus the bottles).

As far as I know, regulators etc for oxy/acet are universal.

If they are not, kits are very cheap over here.
I just replaced my gauge/regulator/hose set for about $100.00. The airline baggage charge would probably come close to that.

If you want to investigate it any further, I'll give you some common aussies brands to google.

BTW, bottles cannot be purchased over here, rentals only (but they are very cheap to rent).

Aldo

Eh! They don't trust you Aussies with Acetylene bottles either, huh? :p

Well, what I said is not 100% correct. We can buy, but most chemical/gas companies will only refill their own bottles - so we rent their bottles. It's more of a commercial ripoff than a law.

Aldo
