UL77V vs. L78V Spark Plugs?

I've always run UL77V in my 1977 115 for years but I was in Walmart the other day and came across a set of L78V and bought them at a real good price. Will this plug work fine in my motor or is it too hot? I haven't put them in yet. I wanted to aske before I tried.<br /><br />Thanks:<br />Jason

Sunbird, Yes the L78V's will work, but the 78's are better for high speed running. They will work for low speed and idle also, but they are a cold plug. They where made introduced in the 60's for racing so the teams would not burn pistons. Champion's web site with tell you more

I could be mistaken but as the Champion numbers go up so does the heat range.

I believe you're right Reel. 78's would be a little hotter than 77's
