So thanks to help from some members I have gotten my flywheel off. Now I sort of know what I am looking at but also would like some things confirming. Does it look OK overall, cleanliness and what not? And the bit of "material/wadding" highlighted in the red rectangle, is that supposed to be there? It looks out of place and the exploded diagram of this part does not show anything like it. Cheers, Tee.

The waddind is the cam wiper/luber. You put a feww drops of oil on it and it wipes cam and lubes it to keep arm on points from wearing . Thats just years of crap builit up, a can of electrical cleaner will spruce it up, reset points and relube cam..

After you get it cleaned up you should also replace the cam wiper.

If you use an OEM wiper, it comes pre-lubed. Don't add anything.
The breaker points are filthy dirty (greasy/oily). They need to be properly cleaned & set.
Otherwise, it looks pretty good
