I have gotten "free" 1968 19 ft Reinell that has an aftermarket gas tank installed under the deck but has no gas guage.I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could tell how much gas is in the tank after I fill it up and its being used. I dont need to know exactly but rough estimate in 1/4 ,1/2, 3/4 tank would suffice. There isnt really much access to the tank.I can see where the fill tube attaches to the front side of tank and I can see where the dip/siphon tube is connected on the back side with limited access to that area.I really dont want to have to tear up the deck to get access to the tank but dont have a problem possibly installing a deck access plate if it isnt to big. What I was wondering if anyone knew if there are any aftermarket guages out there I can install withouth having prior guages installed or possibly a siphon tube /gas guage that shares the same hole.Heck Id settle for some old back woods trick to be able to figure out how much gas is left.I figured no matter what i would just keep a spare portable can on board if i ran out of gas to get back in.

hi....welcome to iboats !

i would just cut a hole in the deck and install a receiver....they are about 30 bux....as far as a gas gauge...they can be purchased here at iboats.

place an inspection cover over the hole.....nice finished white....they look good and all your problems are solved permanently

So your saying there are after market products that will just let me drill a hole in the tank to install a sender unit and keep a seal on the tank?
