Uneven fade under decals

I purchased a boat that had a name on it and I just removed it because the previous owner requested I do so. So I did! My problem now is the name is faded into the boat! And it's not too noticeable but enough to bother me as I like things very clean looking. I do not have any experience with a buffer or doing and fiberglass or gel coat repair. How would I go about getting this to blend in?

Fine grit sand paper 800 grit wet sand and buff.

The area under the sticker is the original color, the rest of the hull has faded. The problem is you need to get the rest of the hull to match what was under the sticker, this may involve sanding, but it will involve buffing.
