Hi every one I'll be joining the transom rebuild club this winter and I am starting to slowly tear down my 79 banshee it's got a 79 Mercury 115 with a 3 wire power trim. I'm just wondering what is the best way to unhook the trim hydraulic lines. I plan on marking each line as to where it came from but just unclear on where to disconnect. Off the pump moter or the Rams? I'm sure I'll be doing stringers and floor as well as I tipped the boat up before I came in the house I heard water sloshing around not a good sign. But at least out on the water next year I'll feel a lot safer knowing it's done and not packing around water. Thanks for any advice in advance

Ive always taken them off at the rams,... then lift them to the same level as the pump at tie off,.... the less air introduced into the system the better,

the fittings are inverted flare fittings (same as brake lines). get caps and plugs to seal off the system when you disconnect.

I would recommend removing them from the pump/reservoir, as the rams tend to strip easily. The up and down hoses are different sizes and Up and down hoses are connected together in the control valve, so you cannot screw up when reinstalling.

I left mine connected. When you take the bolts out the rams are on there own bracket on each side of the motor. My hoses were just run over the transom and not through any holes though.

It doesn't really matter if the PTT is up or down, as you will need to bleed the cylinders either way. Down makes most sense, as the motor will not fall after you remove them.
