Hello,

I've been in the process of saving a 28' 1971 Sportcraft Spotfisher for working on 5 years! (I really shouldn't count the year that I was on crutches)
It's been a lot of work, from rotten stringers, transom etc etc etc. Certainly I would have never been able to get this far without the wealth of knowledge found here!

I'm finally getting to the fun stuff - installing the engine and out drive. (this might not seem like fun, but compared to the months of cutting and grinding fiberglass I assure you it is!) The boat originally had Merc gear which I am converting to Swedish.

I bought a 7.4 GL with a 290 DP-B sight unseen and had it shipped up here which has been a bit challenging to install, having never seen the original setup. Most everything is different from my "little boat" with a AQ140a/280 setup that I've had 25 years.

As with every other step in this process, the more I learn the more I realize that I don’t know. I've found a couple of parts that came with the engine/drive that I have not been able to identify from any of the manuals, exploded diagrams and other goodies that I have found thru iBOATS. They are pictured below: There are 4 of the “pins” - 2 of which were broken in half at the threaded bolt holes. They are 5 inches long. There are 2 of the “plates” which are about 8 inches long.

Any help identifying these will be appreciated!

The "plate" looks to be a zinc anode, judging by the corrosion and pitting on it. Not sure what the other "pin" would be, or be for. But I almost 100% positive that the plate is an anode, which usually bolts to the outdrive somewhere.

pretty sure the plate is a spacer for under the mounts, could be a zinc, however with the slots, going with a spacer shim. the pin may go to your trim rams. doesnt look like any of the other pins that I know of.

Thank you both for your ideas. The plates appear to be aluminum about 1/4 thick. Motor mount spacers is a good possibility - I'll check to see how the align with the motor mounts tonight. I have located the trim cylinder pins - they are about half this length and diameter. The pins look like (a giant version) of something you would find in Ikea furniture - where the pin slides into the side of a 2x4 then you drill down from the top and have a good anchor point for a bolt.

Thanks again!

Thank you again for the help. The plates are spacers for the motor mounts. I presume that the pins were inserted in the sides of the stinger to provide a point to bolt the motor mount from above.
