universal drive volvo penta pictures

I am new to boats but I don't believe my universal should look this way. I do not have any water in my lower unit. Is this rust normal?

ujoints get rusty from water getting into the bellows.

I kinda thought that might be the reason but the bellows appears to be O.k. but i will replace it with a new one anyway and will also change the ujoints. how should i get the rust off? any other suggestions will be appreciated. thanks.

you will also have to change the drive seals, and the seal on the shaft. I would also drain the drive to make sure you dont have water in the drive.
