Hi. last year i bought a 1992 thompson 18ft with a 3.0lx motor (4 cylinder) in it and its my first boat. i also bought a wakeboard and i fell in love with it. i wanted to get a tower for it but the cost is way more then i want to spend so i found universal pylon kits that go up about 7 ft. an i have some questions

1.) are they worth the money?

2.)my boat can get me out of the water now but will a 7ft pylon add extra drag on the boat and make it harder to pull me out or possably not be able to pull me out?

3.) are they sturdy enough? will they cause any damage to my boat?

4.) from a wakeboarding stand point do they make it easier to jump the wake and do they make wakeboarding more fun

like i said im new to boating and any advice would be helpful

thanks

First, you should post this in the wakeboarding section for better response. Maybe a moderator can move it for you.

Second, a good pylon is worth the money since you can usually move it from boat to boat or resell it. The pylon will not add extra drag, in fact the higher angle of pull will probably get you out of the water faster.

The pylon will not damage your boat if it's set up correctly.

The higher pull point does make it easier to jump and get air.
