I recently mounted a sonar unit to the bow area and connected up the Minn-kota Universal Sonar 2 to it. When comparing the sonar displays from the front unit to the cockpit unit the depth readings are close but the front display does not compare regarding detail and fish detection on the cockpit unit. The sonar units are in the same price range and should be close in their quality and detail.
Is the Universal Sonar 2 just a low-end transducer for basic depth reading or is it supposed to be comparable to typical stern transducers?
