Got the starter issue fiqured out and FINALLY was able to get the engine started . In between that thou i noticed a white wire coming from the switch box was poking thru a a slice in wire cover with 3 other wires . When i moved the white wire to tuck it back in the wire coming from either the trigger or the stator so so brittle it broke . Now its broke under the flywheel . Which does this go to trigger or stator and what does it do ?
Iam NOT knowledgable with outboards except what little i recall from helping my pops . Iam sure i heard him saying be very carefull when messing with the flywheel as it has to be removed and properly put back in place or all kind of things are screwed up .
Is this part better changed at a shop ? I can deal with changing the starter out , but if true the flywheel part worries me .

Yes the flywheel will have to come off and a special puller is made to do the job. After checking my diagrams for the motor the white wire from the switchbox to under the trigger is for the #2 plug to fire. You might be able to use a 3 bolt puller to pull the flywheel, but best is to use the special puller. If the wire is broken at the trigger, it would be best to replace the trigger.

Let the shop change the trigger unless you plan on pulling alot of flywheels.

That wire has been repaired once before there is no more fixing it. Popping the flywheel is no big deal. You can rent a puller, and a strap-wrench to hold the flywheel, the flywheel is keyed very easy to reinstall.

Re: unpluged wire Trigger / stator

Thank you everyone , Iam guessing by the time iam done buying the motor and starter , i'd be about 400.00 into the boat motor trailer i bought .Was buying it mostly for the motor / contorls / gauges / tilt trim /tanks lighting , ect . but trailer is decent also . The hull is in good as the stringers are also ( did a drill test on ) , foam was very lightly wet on edges but dried in about 4 hours in the sun , But the floor would have to be fixed and the hull has no title . With alittle luck i could sell the trailer for 150.00 or so and use that towards the trigger replacement .

Iam suprised the motor started right up ( second pull ) after i did a quick start fluild on carbs . It didn't seem to miss , but iam guessing from reading the wire control the is no longer connected controls the spark for timing or something . I'll swing by a shop tomm. and see what the charge will be to replace it .

Iam still suprised the motor is even started . I relooked at a trigger wire diagram online and of the 4 wires , the one that is broke looks like ground and from trigger is supposed to be connected to the upper left post on the switchbox . How do i have spark at all 3 cyc ?
