I was on the lake and my power trim was blowing a fuse when ever trimming up. Eventually would not work at all.
When I got home, I started troubleshooting. electrically, ever thing seemed fine. was getting power to the motor. I could hear the motor running but sounded like girgling and the trim was moving slowly and intermittently. I pulled the motor out of the housing and it was turning fine. I drained all the fluid, installed new PTT clear fluid and put it all back together, sealing the top of the motor housing with marine sealant. it worked great.
went out again yesterday and trim worked fine in the morning, by afternoon it wasn't working at all again. But it wasn't blowing a fuse. I got it home again and same thing. it was working intermittently, slowly and heard the girgling. I pulled the fill plug and checked the fluid. was full and still clear. I figured I would wait til this morning to work on it.
I went out this morning and it seems to be working like it should. has me baffled. I'm thinking water is getting in somewhere, but not sure how. fluid is fine. any ideas?
