I have a vibration at certain trim levels on my 2002 cobalt 246 8.1gi. Duo prop after doing some checking I have up and down play of about 3” movement on outdrive seems to be trim cylinder end play anyone else run into this problem before or should I be looking for something else wrong. Thanks

Unless the cylinders are actually going in/out that much I would not think there would be that kind if any end play. Hydraulic cylinders don;t have play, unless the inner nut holding the shaft to the piston is loose. This kind of play would be very rare

I would think the play in the drive would come from the upper steering pin or gimbal tilt pins

Thanks I was thinking as much after seeing mercruiser horse collar tilt pins wear out but they seem tight I’m going to have to dive in a little deeper and check Thanks again And is that a common problem?

The upper pins are more common then tilt

That said, see 3 inches at the bottom end of the drive is a lot less then what is seen at the gimbal pins. Do see if the trim pin is not loose on the housing
