After weeks of desalination, the marooned anchor has made a tentative agreement to pay restitution for any and all damages it may have allegedly inflicted upon the propellor. However, the anchor, appearing shaken and in great distress, allows as how it is longing for return to the water, but is leery of shallow water situations, and is countersuing ... as it is now propellorphobic due to its traumatic experience at the launch site in West Deptford, NJ, which is infamous for assorted anchor atrocities.
Aside from psychological trauma, the propeller also is suing for physical scarring, feeling it is disfigured and the other anchors will reject it.

The propellor, which was nicked in the alleged incident, has undergone surgery to repair the missing section of fin, and is suing the anchor for physical impairment, claiming that it is now handicapped and will never be the same again

The owner is thus far unavailable for comment

:p

This was posted just after July 4

mwatermasy001
First Mate
Member # 27481

posted July 07, 2003 10:02 AM Profile for mwatermasy001 Edit/Delete Post While launching my boat yesterday (a brand new 21 ft. Chapparal), my prop caught an anchor that was submerged on the ramp...I was not even past the end of the dock trying to back out before this was on there...as a result, my prop is shot to hell....is there an implied warranty that the boat ramp should be clear of debris? There's no way I could have known that was there, and as a result, my new boat is now going to need a new prop, and some other minor repair work.

Please advise with any information you may have.

Also...the ramp is a municipal ramp...no signs at all about use at your own risk, etc
Thank you! Posts: 11 | From: New Jersey | Registered: Jul 2003 | IP: Logged

THIS was one of the replies, lolol, I guess I am sick, but its just **** funny

neumanns Edit/Delete Post

It is my best guess that is within your rights make a claim on the anchor. You could post a notice in the local newspaper informing any relitives of the anchor that they may also be liable. If the anchor is unable to pay you could indenture the anchor until the debt is paid. If the anchor is able but unwilling to pay you could threaten to maroon the anchor on dry land, this may get results as anchors love water. Or you could accept this as what it is, An unfortunate mishap and repair the damage afterall props are not cheap but realistically it is only a couple of bills we are talking about. Be sure to have the seals checked on the lower unit and move on.

Sorry to sound so harsh but we would all be better off if we just accepted a little user responsibility every now and then.

Heck of a Welcome aint it, Stick around There is a lot of good info here and new members are always welcome to join.

--------------------

Re: Update on Marooned Anchor

Just to answer the HUH? out there a week or more ago there was a post by (? doesn't matter who) stating they they hit an anchor at a public (I belive public) boat ramp. They were wondering if there was any way they could recoup their expenses for repairs (can I sue type of question). It caused some lively discussion, some cursing, some jokeing (witch this is a GREAT one) and was a good reading topic.

:D :D :D
Ray let me guess. The attorney for the anchor is Jim Florio and for the prop is Donald DiFransesco. Given Florio's craftyness and the ablilty to snow anybody the anchor will probably win. The anchor will claim a disgruntled childhood and that his Dad was a mushroom (anchor) and the kids at Anchor U. caused untold psycological damage because his father was different. :D :p :D

CastawayRay, I previously saw it, knew what it was about and LAUGHED SO HARD I WOKE MY WIFE UP! Showed it to a couple of guys at work, explaining the before hand complaint, and you had a bunch of Cops having a well needed laugh. We constantly hear the "I'm going to Sue everybody phrase."

Thanks for the Laugh.

GodsBeast

LOL, glad to hear it Beast ... I laughed so hard when I first read it tears were coming from my eyes, I couldnt read it hours later to the One Woman iboats Widow Parade without cracking up

jgregory, its deeper and more sinister than that ....

see, his father was a mudder and his mom a lily white sand fluke anchor, making him ripe for racial inflammation by Johnny Cochrane

The anchor is sorry, the anchor paid the debt

The anchor must now be allowed to get wet!

(tho his prose isnt quite this poetic!)

The Revvvvvrnund Jacksoooooooooon was calling all mudder anchors to cut the line, cut the line, we are free from servitude in the muddy depths

Al Sharpton was reportedly floundering in the West Deptford ramp waters, where he had lain down in protest, til sympathetic passers by spun him around so his head was facing up the ramp, allowing him to breathe again  (of course, his other end is now being used by larger boats as a mooring wharf, thus giving him both purpose and service in the societal matrix

the texas representative Lee was clamoring for ethnic origin concerning naming of boat models, among those favored are the Leroy Ranger, the Ooga Booga Bass Boat and the Bling Blingy Dingy

:D :D :D :D :D
