1980 Cobalt Condesa, 23' cuddy. Bought it, took it out and with a 19 pitch prop could only get to 3000 rpm wot. When I got there the oil pressure dropped to about 25 or so I pulled it back oil pressure went back up, thought I had a week engine so I pulled everything from flywheel to prop and put a Mercruiser set up I had in a 24 foot mark twain that I know ran 4600 rpm at about 52 mph with the same 19 pitch prop. I had that engine rebuilt in July last year and ended up scrapping the Mark Twain cause I felt it was busting loose under the floor. So I knew that engine is good and I felt the Cobalt engine was week cause of the low wot so I put the entire set up from the Mark Twain in the Cobalt, took it out and the same thing happened only I got 3200 wot and the oil pressure dropped also. the only thing I used that was originally on the cobalt was the carb cause I could'nt get the one on my good engine to Idle right. So whats going on here. It almost sounds like the secondaries on the qjet are not opening. I put a 15 pitch prop on the original engine, took it out and it did get me up to about 4000 wot and it seemed like the oil pressure held. I didn't put the 15 pitch on my new engine when it only did 3200 I took the boat to the mechanic and am waiting to here from them. This boat surely could handle a 19 pitch prop could'nt it? Let me also mention that with the newer engine at 3200 rpm my gps mph was 35.6
