Well, finished the rebuild of my Dad's 2.5 liter Mercruiser. After a brief panic attack when all we could get was backfiring instead of starting, (I was just sure I had installed the cam wrong - it's amazing how small the mark is on the cam gear! 
), I tried turning the distributor 180 degrees, and voila!, started right up and purred like a kitten.<br /><br />Thanks to all with help with torque settings, etc. <br /><br />Also, this is the boat that I had posted about having difficulty shifting into reverse. With a new shift cable and shifter console, everything works great! Thanks again to all who posted.
