I am restoreing my 1989 Bass Tracker Pro 17 to look more like a 2009!! I am going to be posting pictures of the process. My reason for doing this is it is just out dated. I want to get in my boat and kind of feel at home. I am also doing this to help out any fellow fisherman that might want to do the same thing. I have been working on this project for a little under a month. I take one day a week and work on my boat for about 5-6 hours. I am trying to help out fellowfishermen and at the same time I might need a few anwsers or help or ideas myself. Well enjoy my project. Just an idea of the things I am doing.

Boat Project

1. Takeing out old flooring
2. Removing all old carpet
3. Removing old console
4. Removing old non-wroking gauges
5.Adding new MArine grade plywood
6. Extending the front platform and adding storage
7. Adding storage to the back platform
8. Installing new Marine carpet
9. Installing a new console
10. Installing new Gauges
11. I am also removing my forward gear out of my engine and replacing it with a new one. I lost my forward last season, so I had to replace that.

Well I am of to work. I will post the pictures of the work that I have already done when I get home.

Thank You
Brandon

Ayuh,... Save yourself some money,... #5 is totally Unnecessary...
ACX, BCX, or CDX will do what you need....

That is what I thought until I found Maine Grade Plywood for 4'x8'x1/2" for $50.00.

Buy it! I went with regular exterior grade for my deck and the crap was full of voids. The Arauco plywood I got at Lowes for my transom was MUCH better but I've heard it may be a softer wood. Not sure.

Re: Updateing my 1989 Bass Tracker Pro 17

This was the first part of my project removing the front platform. I want to extend this about another 12" and add three storage compartments across the front like the new Bass trackers have. If you see though the front mount that supports the aluminum angle, the front piece is riveted in to the side of the boat. I am not sure if I want to undo the welds and move it forward the correct way, and add longer aluminum angle for support. Or do I want to add angle aluminum to the existing support and make a new front piece and just have that welded to the inside of the boat. If I move the existing front piece forward they would have to weld the wholes shut? What do you guys think I should do?

Nice project! I am doing a similar project in my sig below. Lots of good stuff out there to help update these late 80's Trackers to look like new :)
