Upgrade from AQ171A/ 290 SP

The time has come to upgrade. Its been a great motor but due to her age and parts availablity I would like to upgrade. The boat is an old hull that I would like to keep, a 19 ft fiberglass. I was thinking a 4.3l VP. I am wondering how much work it would be to mount in the hull. The question is would the motor mounts with a 4.3l match up with the existing mounts for the AQ171?

No, the motor mounts wont be the same, nor will the exhaust, or the flywheel housing. the transom shield may not work because of the exhaust difference as well.

So, as you can see, repowering is going to involve the whole drivetrain. :blue:

You'd be money ahead and avoid a divorce to simply find a nice used boat set up the way you want.
