upgrade to 4 bbl-vortec heads or no?

I've been reading up on changing to the edelbrock performer intake and the edelbrock 600cfm Carb on my '87 4.3. I noticed mention in a few posts about changing to vortex heads as well. In searching I find posts about vortec head upgrades on the 5.7 but little on the 4.3.

I'd like to know, what performance gain do I get from doing the vortec heads as well as intake and 4bbl, versus leaving my heads alone and just upgrading the intake and Carb. How much are the vortec heads?

Ayuh,.... Generally speakin', you'll see 'bout 20 hp from goin' to the 4bbl. carb, from a 2bbl. carb....

You'll see 'bout another 20 hp, goin' to the Vortec heads, over the previous D-shaped combustion chambered heads as well....

Thank you. This is what I thought I was gathering. When you are only around 170 horses another 40 sounds significant to me! I found prices on everything but the heads. How much are the vortec heads? Then of course I need the intake model I found for the vortec engines instead of the one listed for my motor as it sits, correct?

I know most cases the marine and automobile parts are different. Is this the case with the 4.3 vortec heads? Or are there auto heads that work? And if so for what years? This would allow me to search for junkyard parts.

I apologize for posting in the wrong forum. It did not occur to me that I was posting in the wrong forum. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Nope,... No differences,.. 1996, 'n newer, off a truck would be my choice...
