I have a 2002 Minn Kota Turbo 90 40 lb. 36" shaft Transom trolling motor the lower ..arm. assembly needs replacing, and there is no replacement available from Minn Kota.

So, here is my thinking...at this time it appears it may be the solution....Buy a Minn Kota Maxxum 55 lb. #2887099 Lower Unit for $159.64 + shipping and .installed it replacing the older lower unit.
Question: Can it be done? There's also the possibility the shaft may be larger (dia) and have to be replaced also, as my Turbo model shaft is #2032052, and the Maxxum shaft is #2032061..

What is the answer gentlemen? Or I just could buy a new trolling motor

First of all, some pictures would certainly help get some answers to your question(s). Secondly, the part numbers don't necessarily mean they are different diameters. Length, material composition and some other issues can make a part different then another. So part numbers can be misleading for those reasons.

I am not sure what you are referring to with "lower ..arm". Do you actually mean the lower foot section? If that is what you are talking about, you could go to a sport store and look at the model in question and see if the diameters are truly different.

If you don't have a caliber (plastic slide or even dial types) of any type, just take a piece of paper and wrap it around the shafts and mark them. Then you can see if they are really different.

Without more info, that is about all I have. Pictures will certainly get more suggestions. JMHO
