Adjust the prop choice to situation. check & clean the bottom of the boat If engine is running ok & runs max rpm per specs ..reduce the load or max out the HPs to the boat's rated capacity.

Use a SS prop. I got 2mph more and it doesn’t get affected by more weight in the boat as much as aluminum prop did.

If the motor is running well and reaching max rpm you may not get much more out of it. What is your guess on the weight you pushing?
2 people and a load of gear can mean many things.
If your reaching max rpm have your tilt set correctly and weight distribution is good I don’t know that you will gain much more than what you have out of a 25hp. 22mph isn’t to bad.

Dr Tim is very correct. He has found the force. Keep testing your 25. Are the butterfly's opening all the way?

The correct link and sync have been done?

Boat bottom clean?

Many factors here.

Step #1 is to determine condition of the motor.----Find a shop that can run it with a test wheel / prop.-----Or find a 30 ( prop rated ) or older 35 HP carburetor.

Find a used 30 or 35 HP carb in compatible years...direct swap.

Get a tach, make sure your in the rpm curve by selecting the right prop.

Go on a diet.
While it will bolt on, things like the Cam on the Armature Plate is often different, and often the Intake Manifold is different. At best, if you are able to gain any power, it is only gonna be a mile or 2 mph more.
Proper Propping, Loading of the Boat, Engine Trim, and Hull Condition, and Cleanliness will be bigger improvements than a few HP. Also get rid of any unneeded Weight. That means the Wife, kids, and Mother In Law are to be left ashore. Girlfriends and Mistresses, can remain aboard

Hole in the 25 HP intake manifold can be opened up.-----Knowing that the motor has a 30 / 35 HP carburetor will automatically make it " feel " so much faster.

Without going bigger on hp of motor, the most your gonna gain is 2-3 mph at best....hardly worth the trouble ! If you could jump up to a 40 hp, then you might see some real gain..

Comedy Central is now here...and I got a good laugh.

Jimbo was the best but Racerone was a close second.

Sometimes just working on them or painting them different is fun...
And I enjoy it.

My 1974 Lund does 27 with a fully loaded boat. Motor is a 1985 fully stock 30 HP johnson...or is it. I'm running an 11 inch pitch stock prop and it's right down the middle in the rpm range. I really don't care, I just have fun seeing what else i can do to it.

Thank you. 😀
