1986 Mariner 4 cy 45 hp.
I looked up the part in question, upper carb throttle lever #92880.
Without the engine running I can give it full throttle, the throttle lever is pushed around, when I pull back to idle the lever stays in the advanced position, I can touch it and it pops back where it was.
I have a feeling it's supposed to go back to where it was on it's own? I drounded it with WD40, same thing.
Do I need a new one or this a problem?
Thanks

Re: upper carbeurator throttle lever

I think you need to find out why it is sticking open. Is the spring good? Is there a nick in the butterfly? It should not be rusty, since it is brass ans stainless, but there may be dirt in the carb body.

Chris,
I wasn't sure that it was supposed to close on it's own.
I found no rust, no dirt, my bet is that the spring is weak I will check it for a nick also
Thank you for your help.
