Upper drive shaft bearing two piece unit

I have a 75 hp chrystler 1979 replacing
The upper drive shaft bearing do I have to shim or check rear clearance the pinion gear and bearing are fixed and what kind of gre
See goes in upper bearing

Is your From what the manual says , the "lower driveshaft bearing" doesn't need to be shimmed, assembly grease for the bearings.

Pardon Our Interruption...

The upper bearing (bottom of the crank)you'll need to take the motor pretty much apart to get it out, the bearing has a locating pin and won't come out unless the cases(block) are split.
Marine grease for the splines.
