Upper station control box problems

Not sure if this is the right thread to put this but figured I could just move it if asked. I do have twin I/Os though so I thought it would be ok. I have two stations on my boat, an upper and a lower. The upper station throttles are giving me a couple of problems but the lower station is working fine.

When I pull back on the throttle the rpms don't go down all the way, it stays reved up pretty high. I've tried new cables and adjusting cables but nothing worked. If I put a spring on the carb to the cable to pull it back then I have to hold the control handle fwd while driving or it will pull back on its own. I'll have to find out what control boxes I have but figured I would put this out there first to see if anyone might have heard this before.

Your upper controls are operating your lower controls, and the upper controls are not pushing the lower all the way back down to idle.
Adjustment of the upper control cables will cure the problem in most cases. If it used to work ok, the cables are probably worn and need to be replaced.

Re: Upper station control box problems

I have a different style and I should have mentioned this, sorry. My cables go from the control boxes to the engines (both upper and lower stations). So the upper doesn't go to the lower station they all go directly to the engine.

You still need to adjust the upper controls to move the proper amount. It may take some tweaking to get the upper and lower controls both working together.
