Re: Urgent question!!!

Uhmmm nope not a good Idea. Two totally different kinds of bonding agents. I'm really not sure what's going to happen and what you'll end up with. The PL will prolly leave a larger bonding gap than the TBIII and therefore not allow the TBIII to bond at all. I'm thinkin this is a fatal error. What was the reason for using PL instead of TB III for the entire Glue UP???

Re: Urgent question!!!

I have used both fairly recently. I do know that the PL started drying a whole lot quicker than the tite bond and the PL is alot thicker than tite bond. Personal thought here.......but I think the tite bond is stronger than PL when used on wood. Got them on a wooden lawn chair and I gave up on peelin' off the tite bond, PL wasn't to bad.

Aaaaaaah I don't know..........just thought I'd reply with personal experience.

Just get some more wood and buy a gallon of tite bond. I bought a gal, used most and I have a smaller transome. I did dowce the wood though.:D

Re: Urgent question!!!

Leave it clamped together for a couple of days out in the hot PC sun, after 2 or 3 days take the clamps off and check the bond. If everything is holding together well seal it and forget about it.

Re: Urgent question!!!

It's not a question so much on the adhesion as it is on the possibility of voids. Again, the PL will create a thicker bond joint than the TB III and the TB III will not cure properly in that larger "Gap" and thus could potentially create a soft joint, i.e. void. How much of an area did you use the TB III on??

Personal experience is hopefully talking here .. cause I dunno if you can gluelam with 2 different products and expect the same thing.

I sure hope you can back your statement up with just some sun ( which cant reach the glue ) and time of 2-3 days makes it like you have some experience on this kinda gluelam question.

Please elaborate on how you came up with this result ( BTW I have talked to Titebond and 3m about this )..

YD.
