Put a new prop on. Reverse is now forward. Forward now reverse. Wth? And will that wreck the sterndrive/motor if I run it?

you have the wrong prop rotation. Take the prop back to where you bought it and exchange it for the other rotation. Yes, I think it would wreck something.

You have a prop for a counter rotation engine.

Yes, it will ruin "something" if you use it.

thanks for the replies - i was semi-serious/semi-rhetorical/100% upset when I sent the question (via my blackberry while sitting on the dock wondering WTH). My order slip doesn't say counter-clockwise, so a nice phone call tomorrow will make me feel better.

However, shouldn't the mech who replaced my old prop with this new prop realized it was counter-clockwise? I can at least use my "newbie" status as an excuse.

And what damage would it have done if I did drive it? (I didn't - just wondering)

yea, probably, but then again if not expecting it may not have considered it.

don't know. but kinda doubt the reverse gear's as strong as the forward one might frag the lower drive... maybe nothing, but why take a chance
