Used 40lb Prowler OK for me?

My boat (as per my sig) is a 14.5 ft fg b/r. I have a chance to buy a used Bass Pro Shop branded Prowler 40lb transom mount trolling motor for really cheap.

Will that be enough to acually move the boat a decent enough trolling speed? Hold in light currents, etc?

Also, would it work better if I mounted it at the bow? I've seen a few posts mentioning turning the head around so it could be mounted at the front....

Any thoughts appreciated.

Re: Used 40lb Prowler OK for me?

i have an older 41lb minnkota that i have wired to 24v. when i first started using i was on 12v and i thought it wasn't as strong as it should be. i found there is a switch on it to change it from 12 to 24v so i bought another battery and the first time i used it i almost went for an unscheduled swim off the front of my 17' bass boat. the bow mount is perfect for me and with a foot control for steering it makes for hands free opertion. i love it. if it wasn't raining i would be using it now.
