Used Johnson 9.9 Looking to Buy, Is this a good engine?

Hi - i'm looking at buying this 14ft aluminum boat with a 9.9 Johnson on it. I put pail around prop, jumped in and it started right up. The whole package is $1000 for boat & engine. Is this.a good engine? Anything I need to be aware of for repairs/maintenance?

A pail around the prop might not be good for the impeller.----But at $1000 for boat and motor it is a good deal.----Install a new pump impeller if you buy it !!
