Using a trigger switch for starting

I don't have a spark on one of my '89 Evinrude 120's, so have to go thru the ignition check list. I'd like to use my remote starter switch for turning the engine over when testing for voltage etc, vs needing an extra person turning the key or using a jumper cable.

Question is: Where do I connect the two leads for the remote starter? It is a 10 amp model, and I don't want to fry it.

Thanks

Put one lead on the starter solenoid where the battery cable hooks up to it and the other to the red/yellow lead.(small terminal) on the solenoid.

Thanks, Booobie. If memory serves, there are two terminals on the solenoid so i will look for the one w/ red/yellow leads.

Make sure it's the red/yellow lead.

Remember that the remote switch is not turning on the ignition. You still need the key in the on position.

I unplugged the big red plug between the ignition and powerpack. I believe this by-passes the need to turn on the ignition. Just started testing today, and it worked positive post to yellow wire. Really nice to be able to turn it over right there - the difference between a 1 man & 2 man job.

Now just have to figure out why no spark...
