I have access to many different sizes of 5" thick broken concrete without rebar or wire.

I am thinking of making a patio or some such thing, I've seen it somewhere and it looks nice when done right with mortar and such.

The even thickness will make it easier to lay out.... other than that (which is the extent of my knowledge on the subject) does anyone have input, advice, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Mix some color into the mortar for contrast. Broken concrete can make a nice flagstone type wall or terrace too. The price is right and usually the flatwork company will deliver to your door to avoid disposal costs.

You can acid wash and dye cured concrete too and make it look more like stone pavers.

afzyrfter63:
Use sand (2"-3" thick) under broken pieces it will be easer to keep the project level. I would use the quick create mix that is designed for refinishing or resurfacing an existing concrete pad for the joints (blue bag). If it doest turn out like you would like it too then you could just resurface the whole pad 1/4 to 1/2 thick with the quick create resurfacing (blue bag)and the pad will be all the same color it will look like you poured a slab.
Good luck let us know.
