Hello.

I have a 20yr old Aluminum Bass tracker that I am restoring and am preparing to work on the external aluminum using Sharkhide products. It is a 17ft aluminum boat, very oxided. I believe the 1/2gallon cleaner is all I need and 1qt of metal protectant will be enough. My concern is how much metal polish will I need? 1LB or 2LB container? I will be using an electric buffer with the polish. Any suggestions/advice, including tips on how to use all these products would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Using Sharkhide Aluminum Cleaner and Metal Polish / Protectant - How much polish

Hi Joe,
I Just finished polishing my !8' Starcraft. I didn't use Sharkhide polish, I used 'Blue Magic' in a toothpaste sized tube and a 6" sander/polisher. I used only the 1 tube. I did use the Sharkhide protectant and can say that the 1 qt will be plenty. I think I used just over 1/2 a qt for mine. The name of the game with the protectant is CLEAN. I didn't put enough time in cleaning after polishing, so the Sharkhide brought out black streaks from the polishing process. I think if I had actually washed the boat before wiping it down with laquer thinner the Sharkhide would have come out better. I hope some of this info is useful. Good luck with your project.
