I had I my boat out this evening and was using the trim switch to get optimum performance when all of the sudden my RPMs began to drop every time I hit the trim switch. Then I noticed that my entire console indicators flickered when I used the trim switch, gas gauge, volt, oil, etc. This has never happened before when I have used the trim switch at cruising speeds. Any suggestions? This is the second time we have used the boat this year. The first time out I had no issues with the trim switch.

Time to check all your electrical connections from the battery and to earth I suspect.

Yes, that sort of thing happens to my instruments when I use anything that draws lots of current. Trim, engine hatch, docking lights, etc. I do not notice that the engine ignition is effected.

Like has been stated, probably an insufficient ground connection somewhere along the way, and the large amperage gives a large voltage drop across the bad connection. So, take a look at the ground connections, bus bars, etc. and re-fasten/clean the connections, etc.
