What's the trick to bypassing my relays at the tilt pump to get my outdrive lifted up? I have a 1996 Volvo Penta DP-S. Do you just place an alligator clip on a wire to the battery and then run the other end to the tilt motor (blue wire)?

Thanks in advance, Eric 22' Davis

Should be a heavy red wire there on the solenoil that comes from the battery. You can jump with a screwdriver to the heavy blue wire which goes to the solenoid from out of the motor. Be carefull not to touch any ground when doing this.

That is not how you do it. First of all, you don't have solenoids. Second I doubt you actually have relays on the 96, do you have the relay box with the red circuit breaker button in the middle of it with wires on each side?

Thanks. Yes, I have a relay control box mounted on the side of the trim motor with red circuit breaker switch. Blue and green wire go to motor.

Disconnet the two wires that go directly to the pump motor. For up, use jumpers and put the blue one on the pos bat terminal and the green on the neg., for down, reverse them.

Here is a troubleshooting chart for that relay box.
